Church Covenant

Having, as we believe, been brought by the grace of God to repent of our sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith having been baptized through immersion in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now, as one body in Christ, solemnly and joyfully covenant with one another that: (John 6:44-63; 16:8; Acts 2:31; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Acts 2:42; 2 Corinthians 12:15; Ephesians 4:1-5)

We will, by His grace, commit to walking together in Christian love by bearing one another’s burdens and working with one another for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. (Ephesians 5:2; Galatians 6:2; Ephesians 4:1-3)

We will commit to faithfully attend worship services and not neglect to participate in opportunities provided by this church to encourage one another; to grow in holiness and godliness, pursuing righteousness, faith, love and peace by devoting ourselves to Christian doctrine, fellowship, the ordinances and prayer. (Hebrews 10:25; 2 Timothy 2:22; Acts 2:42)

We will, with the affections of Christ, exercise watchfulness and care over each other teaching and admonishing one another with all wisdom. (Colossians 3:16)

We will, by God’s grace, walk in wisdom, careful to make the best use of our time, maintain family and private devotions; training ourselves and our children to renounce ungodliness and world passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in our generation. (Colossians 4:5; Psalm 78:4-7; Titus 2:12)

We will keep the gospel at the center of all church ministry, especially in regards to worship, preaching, prayer, discipleship, missions, ordinances, and discipline. (Galatians 1:8-10; Philippians 3:3; 1 Corinthians 11:24-34; 1 Corinthians 5)

We will give cheerfully and regularly to advance and support the work of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel and making disciples of all nations through this church and our denomination at home and abroad. (Acts 11:29; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 9:7; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8)

We will, when we move from this place, as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. (Acts 18:27-28; Romans 16:1-2; Hebrews 10:24-25)
